Gold, Gold, Gold

If you read the last post, it makes perfect sense why my first picture for this one is this beautiful, extraordinary sandwich. It was absolutely glorious. It was a vegetarian breakfast sandwich with lots of cheese, hash browns, tomato, and other deliciousness.  If you didn’t read the post just before this one go do that. I will wait.

Did you read it? No? Well I will just remind you that we had tried to sleep in the Glasgow airport the night before. Oh and did I mention it wasn’t the Glasgow International Airport? It was the Ryan Air/ other budget airplane airport which makes it all the more uncomfortable.

Well anyway back to the sandwich that is pictured. It was needed because if you haven’t slept, the last thing you need is to be hungry too. Man was this sandwich delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. This is how our day in Dublin started: me and my two friends eating pure gold.

We then made our way to Guinness. It may not have been after noon, but it was somewhere else in the world. Now for those of you who are not aware, Guinness is my beer of choice if I am going to drink beer. It is full of flavour and creamy and good to the last drop. The building was so cool. I just can’t describe it well enough and my pictures weren’t even good enough to show how cool it was. But here are a few to try to explain it.

This beautiful picture is of the recipe for Guinness.

Here is a cool indoor waterfall they have to help demonstrate how important water is to the beer (plus they probably wanted something cool looking).

In one of the rooms, they taught you how to taste Guinness by providing you a quarter of a pint and instructing you to smell and breathe and such. Luckily, by this point it was noon and a more acceptable drinking time. (except there are a great deal of Irishmen who I saw drinking at 9am)

My favourite interactive part of the Guinness tour was actually being taught how to pour Guinness. This was so much fun. I feel like I could be a bartender now, except I don’t know anything about alcohol except for that. The walls behind the bars were really cool and are shown below.

After you do a correct pour, they present you with a certificate and you can drink your Stout. Here is my glass and my certificate.

Oh and did I mention that there is a glass sculpture thingy that is shaped like a glass of Guinness that hangs from the ceiling/ is part of the multiple floors. I don’t know how to explain it, but it was awesome.

Ok well, let’s move on to a different part of my day that doesn’t involve alcohol. After the tour, we wandered around the city. Here is a picture of Four Courts or Court or something like that.

Here is a church we saw that is right next to the hostel I stayed in. The church was pretty cool looking, but the church bells that went off every 15minutes were not. Try sleeping with bells ringing all night! There is no such thing as beauty sleep with them! You wake up uglier than when you went to sleep!

This is part of Dublin castle, although it isn’t original to the old castle. It still looked nice and was the only nice looking part of “Dublin castle” because part of the newer areas were painted horrid colours like pink. It was absolutely disgusting!

This is the stables of the castle or at least that is what I remember it to be. I could do a bit of research, but seeing as I am lazy and I am writing this without internet, I am going to declare it as such. Anyway they made this beautiful pattern thingy in the grass and I absolutely loved the contrast of the old stone and the newer building behind it. And look at the sky! It was so blue and nice! The weather was great, but this was practically the only true day of sun we had in Ireland.

Did I mention that by about 2 or so I was really grumpy? I mean I was sleep deprived, so what else would you expect? My wonderful traveling companions were not having it and were making light at my mood and I was absolutely positively not having any of it. I just got grumpier and grumpier. Luckily we went and got food and my demeanor improved significantly. After food, we went to St Stephen's Green. Pictured below are a couple pictures of it. It was such a nice day that we decided to sit on the grass for a bit and relax. This didn’t last too long though because we quickly became aware of the fact that we were surrounded by couples making out. It wouldn’t have been so bad except some of them really needed to get a room and one couple, whom I thought were father and daughter, joined the masses.

After being thoroughly grossed out, we went to Trinity College. The buildings were very beautiful. This one below is in the center of a large group of buildings.

Finally we went to see the bridge that looks like a harp. It is actually a very cool looking bridge, but to me, I don’t think it looks very sturdy. I am sure it is completely safe, but it just looks so fragile!

Oh and here is my new pirate ship! I am looking for a crew, so if ye be interested, comment below with a big “YARRRRRRR!” We are only accepting those who have previous pirate experience at this time, but feel free to submit yer resume anyway!

I just love statues that aren't on pedestals and are part of the surroundings. This one interested me because, well, just look at it, isn't it nifty? Does anyone use nifty anymore? No? Well I just did, so there! Anyways, Dublin was awesome! I had good people around me and good weather and it was just a nice place to explore. Dublin is a place to go back to for sure!
